Ahh vacation...
Rob and I were lucky enough to take an extended weekend and head Up North. We spent the first half of the weekend with his brothers/spouses and enjoyed the serene atmosphere of their cottage. We originally planned to attend the 'Trout Festival' but because of the -20 temperature, we ended up never leaving the bonfire (and used a few too many bottles of wine for an extra heat source.) An ice fisherman I am not, so it wasn't too disappointing to skip the fun, and it was great to catch up with the whole family.

We spent yesterday all day outdoors by a bonfire (despite the below freezing temperatures.) So today we took off today to Alpena to enjoy a lazy day drinking coffee, exploring town, and getting our internet fix. On the way we stopped by Alpena Harbor to check out Lake Huron. It was so strange to see the beach and park covered in snow, and it was amazing how as far as you could see the lake was frozen.
Brrr! It is painfully cold today...
A stop by Cabin Creek Coffee in Alpena helped us warm up a bit. We are still hanging around enjoying some hot coffee and enjoying the wi-fi we don't have at the cabin. :)
Check out the Northern Lights Latte below...coconut and toasted marshmallow?! Sounds delicious to me, but I stuck with a regular coffee because we have been splurging...all...weekend.

Tomorrow we are heading off the Boyne for a few days of skiing, hoping for some warmer temps for the next few days. I feel crazy praying for a 20 degree day!
